Speech of His Eminence Sheikh Aql of the Druze monotheistic faith (Tawhid), Sheikh Naeem Hasan on the occasion of the Islamic New Year

In the name of God the Merciful,
Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds, and blessings and peace be upon Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets and the Master of the Messengers, and all his family and companions, until the Day of Judgment.
One thousand four hundred and forty-three years have passed since the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, entered what had just become “the home of Islam”. He entered with the word of God and through the word of God, thus contradicting the time of Jahiliyya. And the religious call was - and still is and will remain until the Day of Judgment - the word of monotheism. And monotheism is submission to God, the One, the Only, who sent His Messenger with the truth: “Indeed, We have sent down to you the Book with the truth, that you may judge between people by what God has shown you…” (Al-Nisaa: 105). Equality between people, justice, fraternity, affinity, enjoining good, which is all praiseworthy in human progress, and forbidding evil, which is everything that would deviate the doer from the purposes of the law to the purposes of desires.
And it is not indecent to build impregnable societies, for so many human civilizations have presented humanity with bright ages, and when they turned to the logic of power and domination, injustice, violating the dignity of people, and denying the spirit of justice, it became “like carded wool” and it collapsed and fell.
There is no need to emphasize again, given the present day Lebanese situation, that denial of the foundations of the nation's existence enshrined in the constitution is an indication of complete disregard for the will of what has been called "coexistence". This means complete political absurdity in the absence of dialogue and the spirit of participation and the desire to cooperate and be true to partnership with the Lebanese people. And here the major cause is the inability to inject the necessary life into the institutions of government, and what is most evident in the issue of fatal stagnation in the severe failure to form a government over months in which sectors of one country collapse after another, as if the screams of the afflicted people resound in a barren wilderness.
The first of Muharram is a blessed day. A day for insight into the meaning of faith, and it is a faith that we cling to in our hearts with the treasures of immortal human values, and what motivates us to realize the treasures of virtues by which a person rises with his meaning according to the divine will, and what revives him in secret from the voice of conscience and sensing the innocence of all guilt. We ask God Almighty to bring this day back to our nation with all good, and to inspire us in the paths of truth, honesty and through altruism, for He is the Most Generous, and the most Forbearing.
