His Eminence, Sheikh Aql of the Druze monotheistic faith (Tawhid), Sheikh Naeem Hassan, received in the community house - Beirut today, a leading delegation from the "Strong Republic" bloc and the "Lebanese Forces" party, delegated by the party's leader, Samir Geagea, to offer congratulations on Eid Al-Adha.
The delegation was headed by former Deputy Prime Minister Ghassan Hasbani and included MPs Anis Nassar, Eddie Abi Al-Lamaa, Wehba Qatisha, Head of the Office of Communication with Spiritual References Antoine Murad, Aley District Coordinator Emile Moukarzel, Chouf District Coordinator Joseph Tabet, West Beqaa and Rashaya Coordinator Charbel Al-Rassi. The meeting was attended by the head of the cultural committee in the sectarian council, Sheikh Dr. Sami Abi Al-Muna.
It was an occasion in which Sheikh Al-Aql stressed "the importance of the mountain's national reconciliation, which will remain a key theme in consolidating and strengthening coexistence among all spiritual families in the mountain region, and in strengthening the bonds of love, convergence, solidarity and synergy, in order to preserve the spirit of reconciliation and preserve the unity of the word and the position in various circumstances."
His Eminence called on “all officials and leaders to intensify efforts to save Lebanon from the political, social, economic, health and living crises that are facing it, which are reflected in the stability of the well-being of the Lebanese people and their concerns regarding the components and elements of the state and its institutions, which remain the basic guarantee for the country’s recovery and revival from its stagnation.”
In this context, Sheikh Al-Aql hoped that "a government capable of quickly facing the current pressures will be formed, and to stop the decline towards the worst and successive collapses, and to start the path of serious reform to preserve the state, preserve the constitution and stop the suffering of the Lebanese people."
After the meeting, Hasbani affirmed that "the visit is an opportunity to renew the deep appreciation of His Eminence Sheikh Naeem Hasan's patriotic and inclusive humanitarian stances, which call for rapid action to save the country within what is offered through the constitution and guaranteed by law and within the dictates of national duty. The economic and social conditions that the country has reached were discussed, and we stressed along with His Eminence on the importance of maintaining stability and the spirit of reconciliation in the mountain, and consecrating the principle of mutual respect among all Lebanese within the edges of the constitution.
He added: "This visit coincides with the parliamentary consultations, after a nine-month wait and after disruption became part of the political life in Lebanon. More than half of the time that passed over the past three governments was lost time, whether in the formation of governments and long periods of conducting business, or as a result of the sectarian blackmail from figures who were encouraging sectarian speeches. We reiterated to His Eminence that we are more convinced than ever that the formation of governments by the current majority will lead to more wasted opportunities and time due to the nature of its approach to forming and managing the country's affairs.
And he added, "How can a government, even if it is formed immediately, proceed with reforms in light of the conflict that exists between the majority, and the fundamental differences over the translation of the reforms and the French initiative, which is five months away from inviting the Electoral bodies? Therefore, we explained the reasons for our permanent proposal to go now to a call the Electoral bodies in order to hold early elections within a short period of time and not waste any more time. The longer the elections get delayed, the more time the country needs to recover and the more people will suffer from hunger, disease and the loss of the basics of a decent life.”
His Eminence also received the head of the National Security Apparatus, Colonel Wajdi Damaj, who discussed with His Eminence a number of general topics and issues.
His Eminence also received businessman Sheikh Wajdi Abu Hamzeh, and a number of general issues were discussed.
