His Eminence Sheikh Aql of the Druze monotheistic faith (Tawhid), Sheikh Naeem Hasan received at the community house in Beirut today, a delegation from the "Association of Muslim Scholars" headed by the Chairman of the Administrative Board Sheikh Fadel Sleem.
His Eminence emphasized the importance of collaborative action between all segments and spectra to confront the dangerous burdens that are endangering the daily life of the Lebanese citizens and threatening the existence of the entire Lebanese entity. This is unfortunately not appreciated by the decision-makers who leave the country exposed to all kinds of chaos due to the persistence that takes place in giving precedence to selfishness over the national interest and in preventing the formation of the government, and not taking the necessary decisions to stop the social and economic collapse.
After the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah Bassem from the delegation said in a statement, "We affirmed to His Eminence Sheikh Al-Aql our call to expedite the formation of the government as the only way out of the crisis, provided that it be a government of national unity that includes scientific competencies and is far from sharing sectarian quotas, which would work on developing a national rescue plan to get out of the crisis that we are going through. We also confirmed the need to get the conflict out of political rivalries, and not to involve the religious sects in this conflict. In this occasion we call on the caretaker Prime Minister, Dr. Hassan Diab, to order the government to carry out its duties in order to find solutions to the economic crises, approve the ration card, and continue to support basic materials and commodities while rationalizing this support, as well as affirmation of support for the Palestinian people to achieve their full rights.
Sheikh Al-Aql also received a delegation from the family of Lieutenant-Colonel Daoud Fayyad, accompanied by lawyer Jalal Al-Jurdi. The issue of the continued detention of Lieutenant-Colonel Fayyad in the file of the port explosion was discussed, and his Eminence confirmed the need for the judiciary to dedicate absolute importance to this file, to give the families of the martyrs, the injured and those affected some justice in the face of the horror of the catastrophe that occurred. In addition, to reveal the truth in this major crime while avoiding any injustice on those who have not been involved, because the injustice is not accepted by the families of the victims themselves, nor by us, and the judiciary must set things right.
