Speech of His Eminence, Sheikh Aql of the Druze Monotheistic Faith (Tawhid), Sheikh Naeem Hasan, on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr in 2021

2021-05-12

In the name of God the Merciful,
Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and blessings and peace be upon His Prophet, the Chosen One, and upon all his family and companions, until the Day of Judgment.
Al-Fitr is a celebration of God's generosity, bounty, and wisdom, which are all but to honor the Humans in their belief and sense of monotheism and their recognition of justice and mercy. Believe fasting is prescribed to you, as it was written for those before you, that perhaps you may be pious (Al-Baqarah 183). Piety is the fruit of acts of obedience, especially in this blessed month, because the Book of God was revealed with light and guidance, and the truth in it. Compliance with the noble meaning is Al-Fitr and one of the purposes of the obligatory duties associated with good, because of the fulfillment of the most noble of the goals for which a person was created by the will of a Lord who is Forgiving, Merciful, Mighty and Strong.
The purpose of the moral equality of man is to be active in the society, not to worship for the sake of isolation in personal salvation, but to be a guardian of their family, their citizens, and their counterparts in creation. And to be a proof of virtue for everyone who neglects the values of matters in their truth, which has no lying, hypocrisy, no harm, deception, or failing into the dark well of selfishness. The believers in their first belief gave a civilization to the world that carried in its memory the legacy of knowledge and the mystery of the East. And no matter how much the fog of confusion intensifies during the times of decay of this world, in which empires of power reproduce at the expense of the dream of human rights, which are fostered by the international community in what has been called a "body of nations", the ideal human values that are taught to us by our monotheistic faith remain as a beacon for truth which lights our way and it prevents us from falling into the darkness of evil in all its forms and ugliness.
How true it is to say today in Lebanon: but nations are morals that remain ... and a little morality today is needed to guarantee the formation of a government that hastens to fulfill the trust in caring for the people instead of the deadly blindness that vows to disrupt, collapse and destroy homes from the far north to the far south, as if Lebanon has no homeland and as if rather, the important thing is authority, even above all this devastation!
How have you returned, our Eid! In the Arab region, nation after nation is collapsing, and bloody conflicts and interventions from East and West are exacerbating. While the siege of Jerusalem continues, the devouring of Arab nations continues, and the Judaization plan is progressing, there is nothing in front of it but the flesh and blood of the living Palestinian people that redeem the nation’s dignity in the morning and at night. The people are confronting the most powerful forms of regimes unfairly with their chests. Doesn't this remind us of the poem? Doesn't this remind us of the correct direction of the struggle compass that should be the title of every struggle for the freedom of our homelands, the dignity of our people, and the good fate of our destinies?
Doesn't this remind us that building humans in our homelands is the noble goal of any political system? The personal identity that the individual holds in our homeland gives him the status of “citizen” in a state governed by law, and determines the paths of the people's representatives in the institutions of government in which the constitution is governed. The Lebanese question today is: How do politicians today understand the concept of “citizenship”? What do they do so that the rights of citizenship and, accordingly, its duties are preserved? And what is the condition of the citizen when the state is unable to protect their security, economy, sources of livelihood, the permanence of their work, the government institutions, and the institutions of their basic services, while it has nothing but the inability to be what it ought to be?
Lebanon will not rise by deepening the state of fragmentation, dependence, flight to sectarian fanaticism, contempt for the people's choices, and denial of the repercussions of the successive, accumulating and chronic crises. Lebanon promotes the wisdom of the men who hold the trust of the supreme national interest as a goal to achieve it through what they were entrusted with as part of their positions. Positions disappear and the homeland remains.
Those who are in charge of decision-making and governance affairs in the country must not ignore the concerns of the people and the interest of the nation that collapses into the walls of its institutions one after the other, so beware of mass social explosion, and the volcano of hunger and dignity, and let the quick recovery of a government capable of starting an effective program of action to stop the collapse before it's too late.
We ask God Almighty on this blessed Eid, with its values and message, to inspire every responsible person to awaken the conscience, to support the endeavors of the faithful to what benefits people, to open the door to His generosity over His creation, and to lift all hardships and difficulties from our people, for He is the Most High, the Most Gracious, the Most Knowing, and the Most Merciful.

On the other hand, and due to the current health conditions, the prayer will not be held in the shrine of Prince Sayyed Abdullah Al-Tanoukhi in Abey on the morning of the usual blessed Eid Al-Fitr.

His Eminence Sheikh Al-Aql also apologizes for not receiving visitors on this occasion.
