His Eminence Sheikh Aql of the Druze monotheistic faith (Tawhid), Sheikh Naeem Hasan visited the Fatwa House and met with his Eminence the Grand Mufti of the Republic Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian. He was accompanied by Judge Sheikh Ghandi Makarem, his Eminence’s advisor Sheikh Ghassan Al-Halabi, and member of Islamic-Christian dialogue Committee Mr. Abbas Al-Halabi. In the meeting, a number of Spiritual and patriotic topics were discussed.
After the meeting, his Eminence Sheikh Al-Aql said: “Communication, with thanks to God Almighty, was never interrupted between the spiritual references, but we intended through this visit to emphasize this communication, and to continue the ongoing consultations about the outstanding national matters.”
He added, "The Lebanese people today are going through the most difficult crises, losing the foundations of the economic and the basic aspects of life, if the political difference can’t be legitimate if it does not touch national values, however in the current exceptionally difficult circumstances, everyone must concede in the interest of our country."
He continued: "Any approach to reform and salvation requires a government that has confidence from its people and from the international community, that abides to the national charter and the constitution, and is able to implement a plan to save the country. We, along with his Eminence agree on all the basic principles for the good of this country, its safety, resistance as well as its renaissance."
In response to a question about any intention to hold an Islamic-Christian summit, he said: "These circumstances require easing down the tension as well as increasing the frequency of consultations sessions, such that any spiritual meeting turns inclusive and fruitful."
