Message of His Eminence Sheikh Aql of the Druze monotheistic faith (Tawhid), Sheikh Naeem Hasan on the occasion of the Hijri New Year

In the name of God the Merciful…
Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds, and blessings and peace be upon the greatest of the Messengers, and upon all his descendants and companions, until the Day of Judgment.
The first of Muharram of the first year of Hijra is considered as a dividing boundary of light between ignorance, blindness of insight, and the indulgence of the soul towards the idols of instincts, fanaticism and polytheism on the one hand, and the establishment of the state of truth, monotheism, justice and equality and the dissolution of the human insight from the most honorable and most beautiful of the virtues, values, and morals of the human soul of what God Almighty wanted for him to perceive the various meanings of the eternal message on the other hand.
On the first of Muharram in our day, the image of the world, the image of our country, and the image of Beirut appear to us as an indication that the most we need today is to inspire the truth from that great historical event, seeking sincerity and loyalty and confirming the belief that truth, justice, fairness, and the rejection of injustice and aggression is the path of salvation. It is also the way of guidance for the sake of complete dedication to the service of what is beneficial to the soul in its purification, and what is thus beneficial to people in illuminating the paths of life for them with God Almighty’s blessings, wisdom and guidance.
The good, the common, the faith and the renunciation of evil are all at the core of the believer's heart, the mystery of his bed, the light of his conscience and his being, and God forbid that, along with sincerity, those good things spoil the lives of peoples and spread corruption, ruin, and shortness of life in places where there is corruption! Where are we from this fact? Is politics, in its murderous, dissonant sense, the only way to rule? Does politics mean dealing with state’s resources as spoils, shares, areas of influence, control and monopoly?
The reform approach is clear, and it is reform that has become equivalent to lifting people from the ordeals that afflict them in managing their affairs, as well as in the economy, in security, and in guarantees of social cohesion, in order to ward off the dangers of collapse and turmoil.
We call for purity of intentions and hearts to save the country, and we call for the establishment of the state of law, the smooth functioning of its institutions, the strength of its army, and the unity of its people. And then, we shall not disagree on the concept of neutrality or resistance.
We ask God to awaken the consciences, revive the insights, and to inspire everyone on the right path with the blessing of goodness and guidance at the essence of this blessed occasion, and to bless us with the shade of His mercy, his bounty, and his assistance to our people and the people of our nation, for He is the Listener and the Responder.
