His Eminence, Sheikh Aql of the Druze monotheistic faith (Tawhid), Sheikh Naeem Hasan met today at the Community House in Beirut, the Italian Ambassador to Lebanon Nicoletta Bombardieri, in the presence of his Eminence’s adviser Sheikh Ghassan Al-Halabi. The meeting included a review of the general situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as the friendly relations between the two countries and the Italian role assisted by the international emergency forces operating in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL). Ambassador Bombardieri thanked his Eminence for his "comprehensive national stance" and expressed her country's stance calling for "dialogue that should prevail in relations between all parties on the ground and respect for leaders and symbols."
His Eminence also received a member of the Democratic Gathering, MP Marwan Hamadeh, and general national issues and matters, especially economic, financial and social conditions, were reviewed. In the aftermath of the meeting, representative Hamadeh praised “the recent attitudes of his Eminence, which show great responsibility and care on the importance of preserving national unity and adherence to Lebanon’s unity, independence, Arabism and democracy, as well as the efforts of his Eminence’s office and the doctrinal council in solidarity and collaboration with the Progressive Socialist Party and the Democratic Gathering in addressing and following up on the issues raised.”
Sheikh Al-Aql also received the Chairman of the Beirut Endowment Committee, Mr. Ali Al-Oud, in the presence of Sheikh Sami Abdul-Khaleq, then the editor-in-chief of Al-Dhoha Magazine, Dr. Mohamed Shayya.
