His Eminence Sheikh Aql of the Druze monotheistic community (Tawhid), Sheikh Naeem Hasan visited the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Patriarchate in Ain Traz heading a delegation of the sectarian council, where he offered his congratulations to Patriarch Yousif al-Absi on his election to the leadership of the Melkite Catholic Church of Antioch and the rest of the East. The meeting presented an opportunity to discuss several national subjects.
After the meeting, his Eminence said: "The values that unite us are the same historical values of this East, which go back to the early times of faith, to the mind which is inseparable from the purity of conscience and to the word of which true meaning is only in unity of the intent, by the tongue, heart and the soul. This shall be the faith that we aim to symbolize as our general national position".
His Eminence added: "We and his Beatitude (the Patriarch) want to emphasize the noble human values of kindness and partnership, and to strengthen the solidity of the social fabric".
"From this noble edifice, we say yes to the national values, yes to the constitutional and privileged principles, yes to the spirit of reconciliation and to the spirit of kindness and partnership," Sheikh al-Aql stressed.
In response to a question about the Qabr Shmoun incident which took place weeks ago and its aftermath, His Eminence replied: "Our message is the message of love and assembly, and whatever happens, our hope is to bypass its circumstances with goodwill".
