Beirut, on May 27, 2014

His Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community the Sheikh Naim Hassan received at the House of the Community in Verdun – Beirut the Mufti of the Republic the Sheikh Mohamad Rashid Kabbani who carried to his Eminence a copy of the agreement draft and ethical pact between the Christians and the Muslims in Lebanon that he has elaborated in person. During the meeting, they discussed the general situation and incidents in Lebanon and the region.
His Eminence emphasized the high importance of this stage itself to fortify the Islamic harmony and consolidate the pillars of coexistence between the Muslims and Christians in Lebanon and the East, underlining the necessity of anchoring the principles of the ethical and humanitarian values in the dealing between people and between the different religions and confessions, which leads to the confirmation of the concepts of a coherent society.
His Eminence the Sheikh called all the political leaderships and all the deputies to immediately agree upon the election of a new president of the republic and to fill the gap of the presidential position since this is important to preserve the State’s institutions, execute the Constitution and guarantee the regular work in the country at the executive and legislative levels.
The Sheikh Hassan also asserted the importance of being always warned about the plans of the Israeli enemy that the Lebanese were able, by their endurance, resistance and harmony in the State as people and army, to liberate the Lebanese territory in 2000, hoping it is completed soon by regaining Chebaa farms and Kfarchouba hills, and protecting Lebanon’s right to the oil wealth in the regional and southern water, also to cease the repetitive Israeli violations and offences.

Following the meeting, the Mufti Kabbani declared the following:
“Our visit to his Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Honorable Druze Unitarian Community today is destined to discuss the general situation in the country and deliver to him a copy of the project draft and the ethical pact I had prepared long time ago to be discussed and become a future paper of action, so that the Lebanese Muslims and Christians convene through the leaders of their confessions upon the mutual values on which their generations should be raised in a way that does not involve them  in dissensions that harm them, and that should open the path for them to be united and unify their ranks. Similarly to the political national pact, there should be an ethical agreement and pact between the Christians and Muslims in Lebanon, and which would hopefully constitutes an introduction to an ethical agreement and pact in the Arab World”
