Beirut, on May 6, 2014

His Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community the Sheikh Naim Hassan received at the House of the Community in Verdun – Beirut the Head of the “Arab Unitarian Party” the former deputy Weam Wahab and it was an occasion to discuss the general situation and incidents.
His Eminence the Sheikh welcomed the visit of Wahab to the House of the Community and the Druze Sheikhdom that “belong to all the Druze Unitarians with no exception and to all the Lebanese as well”, emphasizing the necessity of the serious and continuous work to consolidate the union of the Community and the Jabal that assert Lebanon’s union and security”. He mentioned the “efforts made by all the leaders in this field”, hoping the concerned persons would reach an agreement for the election of a new president of the republic that would be capable of going forward with dialogue and agreement, getting the Lebanese closer to each other and overcoming the huge challenges Lebanon is facing”.
Following the meeting, Wahab said: “this visit to his Eminence is normal, especially that this House belongs to all the Unitarians and will remain to all of them with no exception. While we are striving for the union of the Community and the Jabal, I have found it unordinary not to visit this Community since it symbolizes the union of all the Unitarians. His Eminence has always encouraged this union and he was represented in the reconciliation of Mazraa Shouf, without forgetting that he has also had virtuous attempts inside the Druze Community. This is why I have made this visit”.
He added: “We have discussed issues related to the nation and the Community as well, and his Eminence is continuously seeking the way to ameliorate the economic and social affairs at the Community and in the Jabal from his position as the Sheikh Akl of the Community. We have also discussed the way of taking the practical steps in this field”.
He added: “On the general level, we are keen as his Eminence, on the agreement and on the republic presidency position in Lebanon, as well as the completion of this due date in spite of all the conditions that indicate some difficulty in the election of a president before May 25th. However, this does not mean that the gap will last forever. The gap might not last and wait for an American, Iranian, Saudi and Syrian agreement. We hope it would not last until the agreement takes place and the president is elected to all the Lebanese. The Community is keen on a consensual president representing al the Lebanese and a president who is able to deal with all the Lebanese and preserve the Arab position of the resistant Lebanon; a president who takes charge of the burdens predicted to the coming president of republic”.
Wahab concluded: “We have certified the necessity of keeping the agreement state in the Jabal region, which comforts all the Muslim and Christian sons of the Jabal. We are keen on it and his Eminence and our honorable Sheikhs are definitely on the top of those who are keen on this”.
