His Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community the Sheikh Naim Hassan made phone calls to the Lebanese Army Commander the General Jean Kahwaji, the Staff President the Major General Walid Selman and the Intelligence Director the Brigadier General Edmond Fadel, addressing his condolences to the army martyrs who fell during the confrontations that took place in Saida. He certified that “the Army Institution will remain the one and only guarantee to the Lebanese people’s security and stability”, praising the sacrifices of its elements at all levels”, calling “all the Lebanese forces to offer the support to the State’s Institutions, in particular the army and the security forces”.
His Eminence also received at the House of the Community in Verdun a delegation from the Supreme Spiritual Council of the Lebanese confessions in Brazil including: the Archbishop Damaskinos Mansour, the Sheikh Mohamad El Moghrabi, the Archbishop Fares Maakaroun, the Sheikh Hassan El Bourji, the Sheikh Fahed Alameddine and the Consul Mustafa Abdouni.
During the meeting, his Eminence emphasized “the importance of the Islamo-Christian union at this serious period that the Arab region is witnessing”, calling for “the consolidation of the bases of dialogue, union and communication between the Lebanese in their country of origin and in all the emigration countries”.
As for the delegation members, they emphasized “the importance of peace and charity in Lebanon”, expressing their pain toward the incidents that happened in Saida and addressing their condolences to all the Lebanese people, to the President of the Republic the General Michel Suleiman and to the Army Leadership for all the martyrs who passed away.
