His Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community the Sheikh Naim Hassan received at the House of the Community in Verdun – Beirut a delegation from the inhabitants of Maaloula village in Syria. He emphasized to them his strong condemnation to all kinds of offences to the clergymen and to the religious bodies whomever were the parties causing them, calling in this context to immediately release the two kidnapped Archbishops in Syria and liberate the retained sisters of Maaloula Monastery as soon as possible. He also urged all the concerned persons to duplicate their efforts aiming at achieving so in this concern.
His Eminence urged all the parties of the different countries in our Arab and Islamic region to keep the religious symbols away from the conflicts that are taking place, calling the Muslims and Christians to unite all together in face of the targeting that is happening against those who have devoted themselves each one according to his religion, to serve and worship God, also to serve people and get them close to the Creator. He stressed on the Islamo-Christian union and coexistence in this region specifically, and which are meant to be the only obstacle in face of all the attempts to division and dissension and to the nourishment of the fire of dissension between the brothers in any of the East States.
The delegation asked for the release of the sisters of Maaloula and a number of the village’s retained guys. They hoped that his Eminence the Sheikh help them with this file, underlining coexistence and its importance at these circumstances in particular.
His Eminence the Sheikh Akl the Sheikh Naim Hassan condemned the repetitive explosive operations in more than one Lebanese region and which certify the necessity of being given the absolute priority in order to support the efforts of the Lebanese official security institutions in order to face the challenges that are taking place and defeat all the potential threats to preserve the security of all Lebanese people with no exception.
