The Consultant of the Sheikhdom Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community, the Sheikh Ghassan El Halabi expressed the resentment and rejection for the horrible incident that took place in Baysour village in all its causes and effects. He also condemned the awkward reaction whatever were the circumstances that provoked it, and he certified that this is a special case, while the rural environment is rooted in the traditions of tolerance and coexistence. The Unitarian Druze Community has its own privacy, traditions and customs and the deep respect of the human freedom principle in its noble significance is a respect to the private social traditions and customs.
However, preserving these traditions and customs is not achieved by solving mistakes with mistakes nor by messing with the human entity that God has created and made one of the noblest creations. Therefore, we and the overwhelming majority in our society, assert that the incident is rejected, deviant and unacceptable.
We call for placing the issue in the right frame so that justice takes its course, according to the principles we should all abide by with no exceptions.
