His Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community the Sheikh Naim Hassan received at the House of the Community in Verdun – Beirut, a large delegation from the village of Mtein that included the Priest of the village and a group of its Sheikhs, the President of Municipality, a number of figures and the sons of the village of all confessions. They discussed with his Eminence the problem of the real estate quarrel of their village’s land, asking the government and the leaders to strive in order to let justice prevail in this concern.
The delegation has organized a symbolic protestation in front of the House of the Community, where the Sheikh Hassan declared the following: “We are witnessing today a national wedding. Even though there is a problem, welcome to the sons of the Jabal and its cedars, pine trees, rocks and sources. Your respectable faces represent today the national union”.
He added: “You are welcome at your House, the House of the Druze Unitarian Community, the House of every right holder. We hope and wish wholeheartedly that we all gather in Mtein with the flag of justice and equity rising above its high mountain. Your village is at a high position of respect and admiration in a region that is dear to our hearts and we would be glad if God his Almighty confers all the graces to it, as a generous, protected and prosperous village, supporting the nation with its goodness and the vivacity of its men, assuming its obligations with pride and sincerity. The State has preserved its rights and its sons’ equally with every village in our dearest country. We cannot but certify in this gathering, our trust in the State starting from the top of the governing summit in this State, which continuously certifies its clinging to the principles, wisdom and justice, since the essence of reigning resides in the preservation of the governing authority’s dignity that could not be right unless by justice, and then giving everyone his right in a way that does not contravene the law nor overtake it.
He added: “We stick to this matter based on our faith in the fact that otherwise would only lead to the deterioration of institutions, the lack of trust, therefore, to a serious dissociation in the components of this country that we all want to see strong, resistant and united. It is obvious that judicial authorities are the ones free from foreign interventions where justice is the heart of the human. We, based on our trust in our judicial authorities and its representatives, shake your hands for support and aid to support every right claimant and fair examination, rejecting any attack of any kind, not by any person to another, nor by any village to another and nor by any diversity whatsoever. We hope that the decision would be issued by the judicial authorities and that this meeting would not be considered as a pressure, but we ask the one deciding in this issue to be one of the paradise judges. Judges are of three kinds: one in paradise and two in fire”.
He called for “the firmness in your union and solidarity, because it is by solidarity and harmony that benediction reigns and constructions rise. We also call for the firmness in the trust of judicial authorities and justice, since with such an important issue, justice should be revealed and every right holder is entitled to the right he deserves. We ask God his Almighty to release us from any worries, to solve any ambiguity by His Grace and to unite you with your citizens from any neighboring village with charity, harmony and goodness”.
The President of Mtein Municipality Zuhair Abou Nader, who thanked his Eminence the Sheikh Akl for holding the issue, had pronounced a speech and declared that they ask to take back their right, considering that the issue is moral, related to dignity and it is vital since the water of Mtein stems from this region itself.
He added: “We certify that our dispute does not concern Bteghrine Municipality nor its inhabitants as some are spreading, but our dispute concerns the Former Prime Minister Michel El Murr who has private interests. We are today at his Eminence’s place, at this respectful House that has always offered us the support we wish to be delivered to the judicial authorities which we highly trust in spite of the delay that happened. We hope that judicial authorities take a fair and right position in order to return our violated rights”.
Then the internal representative of the Socialist Progressive Party in Matn, Hadi Abou El Hassan declared: “We came today with our brothers in Mtein to this spiritual national palace to stand by our brothers and friends from all the families in Mtein who constitute one national family without any measures. We are here to certify that we are keen on this rightful issue and certify our solidarity with the Municipality and its president as well. At this occasion, we would also like to renew our trust in the Lebanese Judicial authorities, asking them to accelerate the final decision at the State Legislative Council. We strongly trust the Judge Chukri Sader who is one of the most brilliant judges. We call all to give all the necessary support for this issue so that every right returns to its holders. From this position, we salute his Eminence the Sheikh Akl for his positions and his caring for this issue, he who has always accustomed us to his great and noble positions”.
The Sheikh Sultan El Kontar called in the name of the village’s inhabitants the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister to help supporting this rightful issue, calling the judicial authorities to be fair in their decision. The leader at the Lebanese Forces Party Eddy Abi Lamaa had also a speech calling for not hindering any solution and keeping dialogue open to all parties.
His Eminence the Sheikh Akl received a leading delegation from the “Socialist Progressive Party” presided by the Interior Affairs Commissioner Dr. Yehia Khamis, including a number of the party’s internal representatives in the regions, who carried to his Eminence a message of admiration and solidarity for his national positions, certifying the reference of the Druze Sheikhdom and its spiritual and official role. During the meeting, different affairs in the country were discussed.
