His Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community the Sheikh Naim Hassan received at the House of the Druze Community in Verdun – Beirut, a delegation on behalf of the Maronite Patriarch the Cardinal Saint Beshara Boutros Rahi, which included the Metropolitan of Beirut and its subordinations for the Maronites, the Archbishop Boulos Matar, accompanied by the General Secretary of the Islamo-Christian Dialogue Committee Hares Chehab, who informed his Eminence the Sheikh Akl about the preparations for the celebration of the nomination of the Patriarch Rahi as a Cardinal in Rome and carried an invitation to his Eminence to participate to this national occasion. They discussed with his Eminence the general affairs.
After the meeting, Matar declared: “We had the honor to visit his Eminence the Sheikh Naim Hassan at this honorable House on behalf of his Holiness and Excellency the Cardinal Saint Beshara Boutros Rahi. We have informed his Eminence about the circumstances of the homage of his Holiness that will take place in Rome to grant him the Cardinal badges, on November 24th”.
Matar added: “It was an opportunity to negotiate this celebration that will be a blessed event to Lebanon – in the will of God. We also discussed the country’s affairs and the harmony to which we should always refer for the sake of this nation, as well as the communication that we always intended to achieve. The meeting was kind as usual and gave an inspiration to go forward according to the means we all want”.
