His Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community the Sheikh Naim Hassan received at the House of the Community in Verdun – Beirut the Secretary General of the Islamo-Christian Dialogue Committee, the Prince Hares Chehab in his tour to the spiritual references to inform them about the arrangements of the visit of the Pope Benedict VI expected on the next September.
His Eminence emphasized the importance of the “historical visit to Lebanon in the light of what the region is witnessing and the necessity that the Lebanese seize the opportunity of the Pope’s visit so that they certify the national principles, essentially coexistence and understanding, to anchor the pillars of their persistence in this nation, all of them, as Muslim and Christian brothers, united by solidarity, far away from any tension, all believing in Lebanon, distinguished by its diversity and variety, enriched by all its sons, and that they would be proud to make their country as a melting pot in which are mixed the significances of fraternity, charity and dialogue”.
As for Chehab, he emphasized that “it would be necessary for the Lebanese to make the visit of his Holiness the Pope a fruitful point at all levels and rely on it in order to consolidate convergence and coexistence”.
