His Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community the Sheikh Naim Hassan congratulated all the Lebanese at the occasion of the New Year, wishing that this new year carries with it the initiatives of the good, charity, solidarity, union and dialogue between the Lebanese, and that politicians work hard to solve people's affairs, far away from the personal political profits and interests, that the political speech rises toward wisdom, reason and dignity, and that stability and security become the firm target that each one should work hard to achieve in order to prevent any violation or any security incident, as the incidents that are happening lately and that answer the goals of the cruel Israeli enemy only. He also wished that the next year would be full of peace, tranquility and reform in all the Arab neighbor countries”.

His Eminence received at the House of the Community in Verdun a delegation from the “gathering of the Moslem scientists in Lebanon" presided by the head of the administrative body the Sheikh Hassan Abdallah and exposed the general national situation. Their discussions emphasized the Islamic affairs and the importance of strengthening harmony between the sons of the Islamic confessions, especially in the light of the present circumstances”. The Sheikh Abdallah declared, “We have the honor to meet his Eminence the Sheikh Akl and we informed him about our vision for the present situation in the region. After the defeat of the Zionist entity in Lebanon and Gaza and the one of the American occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan, this entity resorted to the alternative war based on the division of the region into confessional, religious and ethnic entities. This leads to a dissension between all the parties, the most serious of it is the confessional dissension between the Moslem Sunnite and the Moslem Shiite. Therefore, it is necessary to face this issue by achieving the union of the Moslems as an introduction to the union of the Lebanese. We called to a constituent national conference between all the confessions and religions in Lebanon including the men of religion and politicians in order to protect Lebanon against the foreign influences”.

He also added, “During this period, Lebanon should stay far away from conflicts and the resistance should remain the basis we should preserve. The resistance witnesses today an attack, and we mention that the interest of the nation resides in the support of this basis in front of the conspiracy knitted against it. The incidents that are taking place in Syria are serious and have their repercussions on the region in general and in Lebanon in particular. We support the preservation of this State and its union because of its opposition and resistance. We also warn from slipping into the confessional dissension in Syria since it provokes a confessional dissension in all the regions and all the neighbor Arab countries. We call the Syrian people to unite and approve the reforms that guarantee their freedom and their respectable life. We also call the Lebanese to stay far away from the intervention in the Syrian interior affair and we warn from any attempt targeting the Lebanese army that constitutes after all the support of the country and preserves security and safety”.
