His Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community the Sheikh Naim Hassan received at the House of the Community in Verdun, the Egyptian Ambassador in Lebanon Mohamad Toufic who discussed with him the general situation in Lebanon and the region. His Eminence the Sheikh assured “the importance that Egypt overcomes the repercussions of the transitional period it is going through, wishing the neighbor Egyptian people stability, as well as the establishment of the modern democratic constitutional national State, in order to orientate the future of Egypt towards its noble purposes”.
Toufic declared after the meeting: “It was an opportunity to meet and exchange opinions. We stressed on the importance of union and cooperation between the Arab people in general and between Lebanon and Egypt in particular, as well as the necessity to support cooperation by all means. I got to know the visions and thoughts of his Eminence the Sheikh Naim Hassan in a fruitful meeting.
As an answer to a question about the incidents that took place in Egypt, he said: “The incidents we went through in Egypt are regrettable and painful, but Egypt is always able to overcome any obstacle, and the Egyptian people in all its religions hastened to unify and stay far away from any interior conflict. Many positions contributed to that, including the national position of his Beatitude the Pope Shenouda and the Coptic Church, as well as the national position of his Eminence the Superior Imam the Sheikh Al Azhar. The Egyptian people was keen in all its religions, on confirming the national union and emphasizing the progress for the sake of the democratic construction and the deal with the claims of Egyptian categories. The Egyptian Cabinet took a series of measures that are meant to answer the claims presented by our brothers the Copts”.
His Eminence the Sheikh Akl the Sheikh Naim Hassan also received the Brigadier General Dr. Riad Chaya.
