The Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community Sheikh Naim Hassan received at the Druze House in Verdun the Ambassador of Cyprus in Lebanon, Homer Mafromatis. During the meeting, they discussed the current situation and bilateral relations between the two countries.
Besides, commenting on the actions that took place in the jail of Roumieh, his Eminence the Sheikh Hassan made a declaration in which he announced that "the dangerous actions that took place lately in the jail of Roumieh due to the chronic accumulations and aggravation of the situation in jails, warn a risk for more degradation in the country if we do not succeed in rectifying this condition. This should stimulate the State to hasten by all its concerned organs to radically solve the questions of overcrowding, corruption, the absence of rehabilitation and the necessity of launching an adequate workshop enclosing the construction of modern buildings and the preparation of rehabilitation programs for the prisoners. It is also necessary to enhance jurisdiction and accelerate litigations. This shall contribute to a solution for the current problems.”
In addition, his Eminence the Sheikh hoped that our politicians make more efforts to pursue the situation of the Lebanese people in the Ivory Coast and strive to reduce their misfortune, sharing this enormous suffering with the sons of the country.
