The Maronite Patriarch Saint Bechara Boutros Rahi received yesterday at the Patriarchal Palace in Bkerki, the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community, Sheikh Naim Hassan, accompanied by an enlarged delegation including the Head of the Druze Confessional Courts and their members, as well as the members of the Confessional Council and the general manager of the court Mazen Sherif Fayad. Then, the Cardinal Saint Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir joined them after celebrating Sunday’s ceremony at the church of the Palace.
His Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community, Sheikh Naim Hassan, hoped after the meeting, that Rahi would be "a worthy successor to a worthy predecessor, calling for accelerating the constitution of the next government". He said: “We give the hand of charity and association for the good of all the Lebanese people and for the Jabal in particular. We strive to achieve and consecrate the historical reconciliation that was conducted by the two great men, his Beatitude Patriarch Saint Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir and Walid Beik Joumblat. We also certify that the Jabal and Lebanon would not be saved unless by saving unity between the Lebanese people. Rahi answered by confirming in the name of Sfeir and “our whole sacred council that we will follow the same way, according to the national principles and values we have all agreed upon during this long historical phase and all through the way leading to reconciliation in order to pursue this long mission with more cooperation and coordination for the good of Lebanon and its people. We also hope with his Eminence that God would help our politicians by strengthening and encouraging them to constitute the government, and strive to satisfy all people's needs that are accumulating daily at all levels."
