In the framework of his visit round to the political and spiritual leaders, His Eminence El Sheikh of the Druze Monotheist Confession, El Sheikh Naim Hassan received today at noon at the Druze confession House in Verdun the President of the Islamic Higher Council in Iraq Mr. Ammar El Hakim and the accompanying delegation. They discussed the dual relations between Lebanon and Iraq as well as the general situation in the region.

After the meeting Mr. El Hakim declared “it was a precious opportunity to meet His Eminence El Sheikh of the Druze Monotheist Confession, and to discuss with him the common and good relation between Lebanon and Iraq, and between the confessions of the countries and the Arab World. We look to the Monotheist Druze with respect and estimation and we find that in the Arab World we need each other to gather and share our concerns, to work hard in order to build a strong and serious relation where love and friendship prevail because through combined efforts we can build our project in our nations and in the Arab Region, as well as in the whole region in general as well as in the Islamic neighboring states, and we can be opened to the world vast horizons. We thanked His Eminence for his reception and for the courteous dialogue between u as well as for the understanding of the circumstances in both Iraq and Lebanon.  

From his side His Eminence welcomed Mr. El Hakim being “an important and respectful personality and a school in moderation, wishing him success in his missions and efforts in uniting the elements of the Iraqi people to whom we wish goodness and love as well as to our homeland Lebanon.”
