His Eminence the Sheikh of Druze confession, El Sheikh Naim Hassan delivered the following speech:
The Lebanese expect with hope and optimism that the political negotiations and communications happening currently will lead to a result waited since a long time which is the constitution of the future government which will face a set of challenges on different matters that requires coming out quickly from the political fluctuations in this important matter.
From here, we address to all political parties concerning the necessity to be far above the narrow accounts, disputes and attractions and offer mutual concessions for the national interest and to proceed towards a new period which principal title will be the reconstruction of the trust which was broken in the past because of the sharp divisions and supports.
The Lebanese are called to benefit from the positive climate that occurred after the Syrian – Saudi summit in Damascus, especially that Syria and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were the Arab cover of the Taëf agreement which became a part of our constitution. The climate of the Arab – Arab approach was always an Arab support to Lebanon without of course exempting all the Lebanese forces to assume their national responsibilities.
The continuous Israeli threats and violations of the Lebanese sovereignty and the resolution 1701 happening every day approximately, which the last one was the explosion of the spying equipments; certify undoubtedly that this enemy will not stop his attacks against Lebanon and Lebanese in any available opportunity. This is supposed to form an additional incentive to hurry in the constitution of the government presided by Sheikh Saad Hariri especially that the Lebanese agree unanimously on the necessity to confront this fierce enemy who is awaiting for Lebanon since long decades.
As well the aggravated living, social and economic files need to take audacious decisions leading at the end to equilibrated advancement and rural development, elimination of the deprivation from a lot of regions, to allow the activation of productive sectors and the increase of job opportunities and unemployment limitation. The economic crisis touches all the social categories disregarding their political or regional belongings, and it may be one of the matters that will be out of the divisions and disputes circle.
At the end, and in the occasion of the approach of the celebration of the United Nations Day, we must confirm the role of this international organization in protecting the world peace, and insist on the necessity of its support to the weak people through applying the international law, charters, practices and the respect of Human Rights Charter, that Israel is violating every day in Lebanon or in Palestine through its dominance by force on the Holy Land and violation of its religious sanctities in Al Aksa Mosque, destruction of houses and insistence on the illegal settlement expansion.
We look to the United Nations as the protector and cover of the international legitimacy which helps the victim against the attacker, and stands with the right and truth as it is and not according to the international interests and accounts as well as the nations conflicts game.
