His Eminence Sheikh Aql of Mouwahidoun Druze Sect, Sheikh Naim Hassan, met, at the Druze Community House in Verdun, March 14 coalition of Aley district, which includes deputies, Fouad Al-Saad, Akram Shehayeb, Henry Helou, and the candidate Fadi El-Habr, as part of its visits to officials and leaders. After the meeting, Deputy Saad said, "We came today to this Honorable House to ask for the blessing of His Eminence, Sheikh Al Aql, feeling sorry for General Michel Aoun who has become a safety net for Hizbullah Party obsessed with no more than the presidency chair and the ambition to reach it at any price; on the contrary, we, as March 14, are obsessed with the maintenance of the entity, sovereignty and democratic parliament in Lebanon. We hope to win the next elections and come to the parliament house as a majority capable of ruling in the presence of an opposing minority, and not in the presence of a minority controlling the majority.”
He added, “As much as we feel comfortable for the elections in Aley district, we believe that the election process needs serious work.”
In response to a question about the goals of the campaign held against the President of the Republic, he said, "The campaign on presidency is unfortunate for the President is still at the beginning of his rule duration. Usually, each new person up to the rule is given a certain period of time to begin his work, however, only a short period passed before the attack, because a party in Lebanon wants to get everything as it wills without taking anything into consideration or even listening. As the attack on the President is out of place, we, as the majority, would always support him and be at his side as long as he is on the right track. Besides, the attack is on the medial mass whose existence opposes the interests of some parties on the ground at the time it is considered as constitutional adopted in various countries around the world where the left, right and medial exist; in France alone, for instance, the medial ruled for three consecutive years. Consequently, I do not know why there should not be a strong medial if it chooses to support the President, since this does not mean that the presidency has joined the game and become a mass.”
Asked whether the campaign was due to fear of the effects of elections on a particular party, he replied, "The conflict in the forthcoming elections is for the majority; we hope it would be for our part especially that there is much possibility to rule without depending on their votes.”
