Abiding by the Constants of Unitarianism

What we desperately need these days is to look insightfully and enlightened into the historical constants abided by our ancestors of the Druze Unitarians since the beginnings at which the Arab tribes emerged, carrying in their spirits and their path the high values and supreme principles, whether at the political level or at the moral and social level. The princes Al Tanoukhiyoun are the best who have ruled the ancient emirate of Mount Lebanon over hundreds of years. This is because they maintained for their country a dear eminent role in their huge surrounding, through a wise and continuous relationship with the caliphs who followed in succession without any signs of a tendency to confessional isolationism, or to fanaticism that goes beyond the general path of the nation”.

Same observation applies to the concerned princes who succeeded Al Tanoukhiyoun, we must perceive the Prince Fakhruddin’s big stage not from the perspective of resistance against the Sultanate, and the book Khalidi Safadi and his companion to Tuscany then puts the facts in its perspective, as it mentions in its history it confirms the extent of the prince's commitment to the constants of history, but he wanted to avoid the injustice of informers and Liars, and at the same time, he wanted his country to collect social components in an intellectual and national crucible, which led to be considered by the historians as a pioneer in incorporating the idea that combines the coexistence in Lebanon.

From this entrance, we want to say that the objective approach to the entire history of the Druze cannot put them in a separate space from “their nation”, neither in the political sense nor in the sense of religious behavior.

However, it must admit that the chapters of the Lebanese war, which started since 1975, has witnessed during the period of chaos malicious disturbing movement that lacked of Islamic doctrines and landmarks in order to hit and break the national scene. This “virus” was diffused in a cheap popular market that gets easily disturbed without any critical sense of enlightened rational, and without necessary discrimination in these subjects between what is serious sober and what is tacky cheap. Then these sketchy false ideas were promoted in a noisy world where its senses and consciousness is intruded by the picture and the breaking news without mentioning the facts of things and their true natures, and it is still, unfortunately, until today.

Toward all this confusion born in the dark, we stand in broad daylight - maintaining our national and historical vision - to remind everyone of the original common traditions, and that the doctrine of the Druze is the good fruit of great Islam, of which the behavioral and spiritual approaches were revealed in an environment that has seen the finest levels of bright Islamic civilization that enlightened the world in its dark periods,  and saved its fountains of knowledge sincerely and honestly embodied by the tolerant Islam of enlightened human depth, the moral high contents of which our contemporary world lacks. Reinforcing this is what the Confessional Council of the Druze Unitarian Community aims at.  

“Doha” Magazine have already published about two years ago our book entitled “the way to Unitarianism” that constitutes an introduction to the path of Unitarianism. Its texts were chosen very carefully from pure fountains of knowledge and heritage. We wanted this book to be especially an educational tool for our children from the contemporary generation resident and expatriate from whom we hope to get it and go deeply into its content so that they stand on the educational features that are useful to them and guide them to the correct direction of the origin heritage. This clearly our way for the people to see it in the light, completing it with another book of educational purposes as well entitled “the sign of believer”.  This is the path of truth open and illuminated to those with vision, however those who rush to the dungeons of darkness “They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire” blind of the clear truth that we ask God that all the loyal people of piety and religion be blessed with.

It is truly regrettable that many are ignorant of the history of the Druze Unitarians deep origin meaning, and replace the real and objective knowledge by all sorts of suspicions and falsehoods, but the right prevails, second to none. It does not take from the dungeon of darkness but from the space of light. One of the key tasks of “Doha” is to seek as much as possible in an attempt to fill the gap of understanding the fact of the heritage of Unitarians as well as the values ​​and conduct of their witnessed men, and throw light on their very rich history of struggle, intellectual and behavior. It is a continuous heritage that lasts with its Islamic, knowledge and national constants, that we should preserve despite all the changes and all false publications issued by those who do not well value the scientific methodology, but contributes to more confusion and mixing concepts that are completely misleading. We feel it is our destiny to remain faithful to the virtue of honesty, there's no strength except in Allah Almighty.
