Speech of his Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community the Sheikh Naim Hassan at the occasion of the beginning of Ramadan

2015-06-17

In the Name of God the Most Gracious the Most Merciful {O you who have believed, fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, so that may guard against evil} as fasting is a duty {for a few days} determined from the beginning of the Hoy month in which the right guidance have descended to enlighten and diffuse mercy among the world

Fasting, O Muslims, consists on stopping what God ordered to stop. It is not only about refraining from food but it is a mean so that while fasting, the person would be oriented to righteousness. Hunger is the heart’s food that the believer breaks the irritability, the heyday of the picture and the self desires because he feels God’s presence. Therefore, if he was blessed with sincerity, he will humiliate, humble, wakes up from his heedlessness and fear God to finally be honored from God his Almighty, as a promise from a Merciful God {the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous if You}.

O how much we are in need today to be watered from the springs of water of the God’s spiritual purposes in his Great Book. This purifies the hearts, the intentions and all what is hidden inside us. O how much we need today to beware of the facts of the invocation that could only be related and attached to the God’s good, merciful and justice will. The believer could not rely on the earthly demands and interests neglecting the day when he will stand in front of a true God who does not underestimate any act, whether as obedience or sin.

Human politics could not come forth from the text of the noble Quran {and when you judge between people you judge with justice} [Al-Nisaa 58]. The Unitarian believer Muslim seeks today the justice in order to have a decent life without having the fear of losing what God gave him from spirit and livelihood.

In this holy month, we could only repeat our constants in the attitudes that we repeat at every opportunity regarding our country Lebanon as well as the brother countries, notably those who suffer from the fire of the fateful crisis. We ask God with submissiveness and veneration to inspire us to the luminous characteristics that overwhelmed the spirits and the minds with mercy and compassion from him in honor to his creation. We also ask Him to spread in the entire world the security, the pride and the relief after the long time of tensions, supplicating him to pardon us, to forgive our sins and inattentiveness, to protect the faithful and the sincere persons from all aggression and to extend his mercy to every oft-returning and every person who turns to God. We finally hope that this holy month would be blessed for all the Muslim. It is He who is the Hearing, the Knowing.
