His Eminence the Sheikh Akl the Sheikh Naim Hassan strongly condemned the “manifestations of violent and inhuman tortures that appeared in the video for Islamist prisoners in Roumieh prison, where they are treated with the utmost violence”, pointing out that “the Lebanese realize that the institution of the interior security forces, which has all the respect for its role and for the sacrifices of its elements, will reject such odious acts for which we could at least say that they are the reason behind generating the extremism in our societies and a serious deviation from the noble role that should be played by the security man”.

His Eminence underlined that “holding responsible the elements involved in this act is the least that can be done in such situation; thus, the courts should proceed immediately to end the trials of all the Islamic detainees and release the innocent people among them”, calling “all the Lebanese not to be dragged to any impetuous reaction over these awful scenes and to miss the opportunities for the hunters”. He also stressed on the importance of “standing with the right and justice” and called “for reconsidering all the file of the prisoners in Lebanon in order to prevent its transformation from a place that rehabilitates the prisoners to a place that pushes them to violence and crimes”.

Finally he expressed his confidence in “the minister of interior Mr. Nouhad Mashnouk in putting an end to this case and its consequences and resolving it, he who is keen on the reputation of the government institutions and on the commitment of the institutions with the requirements of human rights”.
