His Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community the Sheikh Naim Hassan highly condemned “the attack that targeted a huge number of the community’s sons in Soummak Mountain in Syria and caused the death of many victims and martyrs”. He emphasized, in a statement, “the necessity of awareness and responsibility in order to prevent such incidents” calling “to continue the calls that were made and still going at all the levels to end the tails of this painful incident that comes in the frame of what all the Syrian population is living and not to be dragged by the temptations that aim at taking the Syrians and their sons to an undesirable target.

His eminence also addressed his condolences to the relatives and families of the martyrs, asking God his Almighty to inspire them with patience and comfort. He underlined the “great role of Unitarians in the Soummak Mountain and Idleb in their essential participation on embracing and supporting the refugees of the neighbor villages” pointing out that they “carried the flag of the freedom and dignity of the Syrian population; and they always rejected the injustice and sticked to teachings of the Islamic true religion and its values”.

His Eminence called “all the parties and groups in Idleb as well as in all Syria, asking them not to slip into the midst of the deadly strife, to maintain the unity of the Syrian population struggling to get their rights, to keep the voice of conscience and wisdom reigning, to reject the unreasonable acts that are disregarded in all the standards forbidden by our Islamic religion and to recognize the friend from the enemy”. He finally asked the Druze Unitarian to be aware in this serious phase from all the plans that aim at detaching them from their reality, history and belonging”.
