His Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community the Sheikh Naim Hassan expressed his regret for not reaching yet any agreement that enables the election of a new president of the republic and for the continuance of the quorum’s non-completion in the Parliament’s sessions assigned for this purpose, and which indicates a negative sign that we should strive to avoid in order to preserve the continuance of the constitutional institutions, prevent the gap from happening and valorize conventions.
His Eminence asserted in a declaration that “the main lesson provided by the “Convention” concept is that the stubborn stand on the sectarian positions drags the country to a memorable devastation, without forgetting the violation of the “Convention” idea itself that constitutes in its core the national spirit by which Lebanon has become a possible nation. He added: “From this point of view, we express our respect and gratitude to the positions of the national leader Walid Beik Jumblat and his courage that pivots around one an only principle consisting in the preservation of the country’s entity and stability as well as the possibilities of keeping it a nation for all until its rise to a free, sovereign and strong nation”.
