At the occasion of the commemoration of the horrible Lebanese civil war launch on April 13^th, his Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community the Sheikh Naim Hassan issued the following statement:

The regrettable and troubling scenes of murder, destruction and displacement in our neighborhood nowadays remind the Lebanese people of what they have endured of the civil war’s calamities for long years and they have come out with a large number of human, financial and psychological damages as well as damages at all levels, out of which many are still manifested until date.

These are scenes that should push us in Lebanon in particular to be strongly vigilant to what is taking place around us and to the challenges we are facing, so that we keep far away from all the dangerous repercussions resulting from the aggravated crises in the region, so that we protect our country from viciousness and preserve its civil peace; that country to which we have all paid the most expensive prices.

The commemoration of the Lebanese civil war launching should always be a motivation to every Lebanese, whether he was a leader or a citizen, to preserve coexistence and fortify stability to protect the country. It is a responsibility that is laid at first on all the political and spiritual leaders to provide a safe and sound social and economic life for citizens and guaranteeing their dignity and their living. Those should also manage to invest in all that unites and reject all that separates and provide the necessary support to the security institutions of army and security forces in order to pursue every security devastator and prevent any security contravention, so that we protect Lebanon in the face of any attack.

All that should be fortified in conformity with the Constitution and the national pacts, as well as the valorization of the State’s reference and institutions and the completion of all the missions at their due dates with a consensual spirit, in particular the Presidential elections.
