Speech of his Eminence the Sheikh Akl the Sheikh Naim Hassan on the Hegira: How poor we seem nowadays in the illumination of the significances of the Islam’s truth and good ethics

Beirut, on November 3, 2013

His Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community the Sheikh Naim Hassan pronounced a speech at the occasion of the Hegira, declaring the following: “Thanks be to God at first and at last. The Mohammedan immigration was a blessed symbol of the Muslim’s release towards the spaces of the human freedom in the lighted place that has witnessed the birth of Islam as a State governed by justice and truth. How poor we seem nowadays in the illumination of the significances of the Islam’s truth and good ethics”.

His Eminence added: “our country is standing on an abyss and every politician and citizen is aware of this fact. We reiterate what we have always called for about the necessity of striving in order to maintain the principles of national union. This requires an immediate return to the serious dialogue and the consolidation of the State’s pillars, in particular stability and security on all the Lebanese territories, in particular in Tripoli where the aspects of the offensive dissension are being manifested”.

He added: “We supplicate to God His Almighty at this blessed occasion so that He favors our Islamic and Arab nation with plenty of the stability we are in need of at different levels. We also ask Him, He who is the All-hearer, the All-seer, to grant the Syrian people sincerity in the intentions of those seeking to put an end to the bloody crisis there, and that all the efforts aiming at finding an immediate solution unite together in order to stop the fights, crimes, destruction and displacement, so that its displaced return to their houses and regions. This relieves the security, social, economic and political burdens off the neighbor countries including Lebanon that is suffering at this period from extremely serious, troubling and dangerous conditions and which are about to reach the structure of its existence and the idea of its establishment, especially in the light of the continuous gap in the executive authority and the paralyzation affecting different institutions at the State, as well as the chaotic security situation and that leads to the consequences of horrible dissension”.

He said: “If that was the case in Lebanon and Syria, Egypt is not going through better circumstances. In fact, tensions are increasing in it. As for Iraq, it is being weakened by terrorist explosions that are killing its innocent citizens, while Palestine remains as it used to be, drowned in the marsh of divisions between the sons of the same issue, and the enemy keeps on harming it with divisions, murders, attacks and Judaization. Furthermore, the Arab and Islamic absence keeps going, and this is a recession affecting all the Arab and Islamic institutions and their role in solving the issues that are destroying the Arab societies”.

His Eminence concluded by asking God His Almighty to “inspire us and the politicians as well to the goodness of our country and nation and to reinforce our hearts and minds with the truths of faith to ask for His forgiveness, He who is the powerful”.
