 His Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community the Sheikh Naim Hassan issued the following declaration:

Since the 13^th of April coincides with the commemoration of the horrible civil war, we go back in memory to what those black days carried of disasters, losses, bloodsheds, victims and expulsed families, as well as the miseries that the war caused and that have not been healed yet, knowing that the country is still succumbing under many of its problems and their consequences.

His Eminence added: on this lamentable commemoration, all we can do is to rise our invocation to God his Almighty, to inspire the Lebanese with the right perception and the firm wisdom, so that they do not repeat such devastating mistakes, preserve their country from any harm and from Israeli attacks, prevent any attempt that may lead Lebanon to a dissension by uniting their ranks, maintain what was achieved by reinforcing the national harmony through the reforms and meetings that consolidate coexistence between all the Lebanese whatever their political, religious and doctrinal tendencies were, make the unique quality of diversity and variety that marks Lebanon as a grace, certify at any time the path toward the establishment of a powerful, sovereign and independent State based on understanding, dialogue, democracy, transparency, continuous reform, corruption fight and freedoms protection, and so that national union, civil peace and stability become the headlines through which and with no other, Lebanon and all its citizens are protected… God his Almighty hears and answers us.
