His Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community the Sheikh Naim Hassan condemned the continuous Israeli violations in Palestine, issuing the following declaration:
Facing the challenges and changes that our region is going through and that require more conscience, attention and wisdom in public affairs, in particular those related to the requirements of stability and associated to the principles of the Islamo-Christian coexistence, as well as the confirmation of the Islamic ranks union, the prevention of dissensions and the rise of our societies toward the horizons of progress, development and reform. All this should never let us distract at any time from the primordial issue: Palestine.
Palestine, in particular the Holy Jerusalem, is subject today to a Judaism campaign from the Israeli enemy, whether through the colonization, the territories confiscation, the continuous practices of inhuman occupation and the blockade of all the Palestinian villages and cities in West bank, Gaza strip and the territories of 1948, or through the attacks and profanation of the Islamic and Christian sacraments that the biased Zionist are practicing. This becomes more threatening for the identity of the whole Palestine and requires in return an active and united Arab position that should support the Palestinian people in their attempts to achieve the reconciliation and liberate the Palestinian position from different pressures and prevent the ruination of the Palestinian issue. It also becomes necessary to build a common Islamo-Christian position in order to face the continuous Israeli violations.
In this context, we condemn the Israeli practices that aimed the position of the Prophet Sabalan (Peace be on him) in Hurfeish and the position of the Prophet Chouaib (Peace be on him) in Hattin, and we certify that the Druze Unitarian Community is firm in its Arabism and Islam in the occupied Palestine like anywhere else and will defy these practices whatever the conditions were.
We also mention the holding of “the meeting to announce Jerusalem the capital of Palestine” in Beirut. We call to activate the considerable and concrete efforts in this context, in a way that diffuses the hope in the Arab conscience toward the Palestinian issue and toward Jerusalem in particular, that will remain the anchored truth and the first and last eternal capital of Palestine.
