Beirut, on November 22, 2011
On the sixty-eighth commemoration of the Independence Day, his Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community the Sheikh Naim Hassan issued the following declaration:
It is a precious commemoration to all the Lebanese for what it carries of the significances of sovereignty, dignity, strength and patriotism as well as the main obligation to generalize this feeling in our daily life and our public and private decisions, so that we get to fortify the concept of Independence at all levels and deserve to belong to a sovereign, free and independent country.
Therefore, we address today to all the officials, whatever their positions were, to be the leading example in expressing the independence of the country and its institutions, and consecrating a national system that protects both the citizen and the country, while the basic mission remains in charge of the military institution in the army as well as all the security forces, in order to preserve the independence of the country and defend it against any foreign attack and against any interior threat for the civil peace and the pact of coexistence between the Lebanese, hoping that the rest of our occupied land would be liberated and that we consolidate the culture of resistance facing the Israeli attacks and anchor in our country a healthy atmosphere that valorizes dialogue and agreement and founds the pillars of the law and justice State that achieves, only by founding it, the total and absolute Independence.
