Beirut, on April 12, 2011

In the thirty-sixth commemoration of the awful and atrocious civil war outbreak, his Eminence the Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community, Sheikh Naim Hassan made the following declaration:

In the thirty-sixth commemoration of the awful and atrocious civil war outbreak that caused disasters, destructions, devastations and victims for most of the Lebanese people, we regret to say that most of the Lebanese are still worried until today and black clouds are still spying upon our country, threatening its security, stability and coherence. In order to face all this, we will have to raise the voice of reason, wisdom, moderate opinion, healthy reasoning and rational concise speech that brings the sons of the same country closer to each other.

In commemoration of the war’s outbreak, we invite official, political and religious authorities of the country as well as parties’ leaders to accelerate the adoption of a new political method that places the construction of the modern State in its steady institutions at its priority, hoping this would prevent the violent wind that is raging the region, from hitting Lebanon. Thus, we protect our interior unit for which we paid and are still paying the most expensive prices. We shall also learn from all the hard and costly experiences we went through, and hurry in implementing the stipulations of the Taef agreement that put an end to the chaos of the war. It is necessary to make all efforts aiming at constituting a national government that promotes the option of agreement and convergence. We shall also make the serious and efficient dialogue as the only and unique way to solve our conflicts of all kinds, especially that the Israeli enemy is spying upon our country. It is the only method that makes it possible to Lebanon and the Lebanese people to prevent repeating the suffering of interior struggle, hoping God would bring us all to the way of the good of our country, people and nation.
