The speech delivered by His Eminence, Sheikh Aql of Mouwahidoun Druze sect Sheikh Naim Hassan on the occasion of the disappearance of Imam Moussa As Sader (2009).

Praised be the Lord for His care and grace, Peace and Blessing be on the last prophet; his chaste household and virtuous companion

God says: “Some Believers were truthful in doing what they undertook to do before God; a few of them died and the others are still waiting with same aim and obstinate determination.”

This disappearance memory is a grievous issue that cannot be accepted by any person at any time. Besides, no state shall accept that its freedom right goes in vain and that violence dominates right. We all know that the Imam was man of renaissance, future visions and unlimited hopes because his thoughts and beliefs were not limited by confessionalism or any secret bargains; however, his thoughts were close to people’s miseries, pain and their future perspectives for a better society. From here the Imam was a humanitarian idol all through the country, and to be just we can also say that he was the most decent, progressive activist by that time.

The Imam was also known for his strong will to establish a new powerful country. He did not surrender for poverty and underdevelopment; nevertheless, he faced them by his endeavors, creeds and his enlightened vision. He believed that religion was the key of liberty, and education the reason after progress, and found that institutions were people’s only hope and way to acquire their needs. He saw that men’s misery and their obstinate wills are much more decent and courageous than the enemies’ haughtiness and injustice. Imam As Sader’s biography, struggle, speeches, lectures, projects and revolutions present a revolutionary perspective for a historical leadership that could not endure injustice and oppression. He wanted a country for all its citizens regarding their sects, beliefs and creeds; he wanted a united country whose liberty and sovereignty shall not be an obstacle in front of regional affairs. Moreover, he wanted his optimist, sensible and obstinate words to be as firm as sword against poverty, injustice and immorality, such that the country can trespass all social lesions, in a way to defend one’s land, dignity and independence. He also realized the secret and mystery after Lebanon’s uniqueness because it is a piece of cooperation and collaboration among its citizens. Therefore, in most of his speeches, he urged the Lebanese people to reinforce this unity and work hard to preserve internal and national unity among them.

We shall not also forget his ideas about abandoning fanaticism, personal interests and moving forward towards a new path, and that was clearly expressed when he said in one of his historical attitudes: “ We want to change the violence and oppression page and replace it by fasting, and worship.”

From here we shall know that politics performed by many of our leaders cannot be separated from morals that enrich politics and keep it away from obstruction, leading to benevolence and progress, and protects the country from falling into sedition, fanaticism thus taking us back to the first states of ignorance.

Today, in this sad occasion, we can see hope in the hearts of those men who understood the general perspective that Imam As Sader talked about, not only in his speeches but also in his life and the main reason after his disappearance. We stand in front of you and feel him with us; therefore, we shall move forward in urging our people to gather around their government and express their national unity by the formation of the new government that will thus lead to more development and organization. We shall be loyal to our people’s interests and affairs to reach a better future in all its aspects as Imam As Sader dreamt of.

We, in those Holy days, characterized by purifying our hearts from malice, our souls from sins and our minds from fake ideas. We do ask God, to Whom  be ascribed all perfection and majesty, to bring the Lebanese together, uniting their words and wills and praise every reconciliation endeavor for the benevolence of this country, repeating what the poet Ahmad Shawky known as “ The Two State’s Prince”:

Oh! Lebanese thou ought to unite

If thou wanted your country safe and tight

No unified country had ever failed

And no scattered peoples had ever prevailed

Peace and mercy of God be upon you
