It was a welcome from His Eminence Sheikh Al-Aql to His Beatitude and an affirmation that the spiritual meeting, dialogue and cooperation that this visit constitutes one of its manifestations, as one of the main crossing points that protect the entity and existence, and everyone is concerned from his position by calling, working and striving to secure the political order of the country, which is reflected in the regularity of living and economic life. His Eminence hoped that the prayers are answered, and that the planned meetings in the Vatican as well as the various initiatives and efforts to create a positive atmosphere and to convince officials of the necessity of abandoning all forms of obstruction that are destroying Lebanon.
After the meeting, Patriarch Yaziji said: "Our visit to His Eminence Sheikh Aql of the Druze monotheistic faith, Sheikh Naeem Hasan is intended at this exact time before our travel to Rome, in response to the invitation of His Holiness Pope Francis on the 1st of July to set aside a day for meditation and prayer for Lebanon. The atmosphere of the meeting and the invitation, and in our joint conversation, we emphasized the values that we always emphasize and that are based on love, the state of citizenship and coexistence, and respect for each other.
He added: "We assured His Eminence that by accepting the invitation of His Holiness Pope Francis, this does not mean in any way that only Christians are invited and go alone or isolated, God forbid, to the Vatican in order to discuss Lebanon and the Lebanese national topic. This was never the intention; At this point is that we always emphasize the participation of Muslims and Christians together as one spiritual family in Lebanon with regard to the Lebanese national issues and the vision to find a solution to the current Lebanese reality. We feel the pain, aches, and hardships of our people and the suffering they are experiencing as a result of the economic and financial situation and all the consequences of the current crisis in their daily life.
Patriarch Yaziji continued, "We also stressed the necessity and importance of forming a government as soon as possible, as a real rescue government, in order to save Lebanon from this difficult situation. We have also emphasized our common destiny and our love for each other and the necessity of permanent consultation for the good of all the Lebanese, where we have a common history and one destiny. We believe that by the mercy of the Lord we will rise together, and this is what we hope for Lebanon, and we do not want to say that if we fall, we will fall together, but despite all the difficulties that exist, we hope that Lebanon will rise and that every Lebanese will enjoy a dignified life as we hope for. We wish Lebanon which is considered a message and the planted cedar as a message to the whole world. We thank His Eminence and all the brothers, and we pray for the best for all the Lebanese.”
