His Eminence, Sheikh Aql of the Druze monotheistic faith (Tawhid), Sheikh Naeem Hasan, received at the Community House - Beirut today, the former Minister Ghazi Al-Aridi, where the general situation was presented. Sheikh Hasan stressed the urgent necessity to stop the series of throwing responsibilities between those involved in forming the government, and to proceed towards forming it on the basis of a government capable of saving the country from all the crises that it is experiencing and almost threatening the existence of the entire state.
After the visit, Al-Aridi said: “The meeting with His Eminence is a blessing, and today comes precisely after the important statement recently issued by the Sectarian Council headed by His Eminence, which called accurately and clearly for officials to move on with forming a government without any delay, private calculations, or external interests. Unfortunately, without success so far, because we are governed by an equation and composition of hatred, maliciousness, and intellectual dullness at the decision level, especially at the level of those concerned with forming the government, and this poses a great danger to the country.
Al-Aridi added: “In every place and time, especially in the current ones, we remember Kamal Jumblatt when he said, “The Chinese were right when they classified laziness as an art in some of its forms.” One has to know when to choose to sit and meditate for a long time, which leads to a kind of mental clarity. But we are here in front of a group of officials who are only proficient in laziness in the other sense, and do not have any kind of art in finding exit points and settlement or rounding the corners to save the country. This is a major disaster that befell Lebanon, because unfortunately those who are in the ruling positions stand for minor viepoints. They only enjoy impulses outside the framework of laziness, but the outbursts of hatred and incalculable bets and wrong bets, which leads to waste of time, money and great danger threatening the country. Therefore, we cannot but adhere to the blessed call launched by His Eminence in the hope that someone would hear, or maybe good people would initiate in gathering the concerned officials on a common word and a minimum level of responsibility to save the country. "
Then Sheikh Al-Aql received an educational delegation headed by the Minister of Education in the caretaker government, Tariq Al-Majzoub, accompanied by representatives from the Federation of Educational Institutions and Teachers 'Associations, the Union of Parents' Committees, and the Head of the Special Education Authority, in the presence of the Head of the Cultural Committee in the Confessional Council Sheikh Dr. Sami Abi Al-Mona, during which the educational conditions and their demands were reviewed. Sheikh Al-Aql emphasized the necessity of fortifying education as the basis for the upbringing of generations, the rise of the nation, and the development of its future, and all of that in parallel with everything necessary to secure the required health protection without neglect to the health of students, educational and administrative bodies, and families, and thus the health of society.
After the meeting, Minister Al-Majzoub expressed: “We are honored to visit His Eminence and this honorable house, to convey the demands of the educational family with all its members and institutions to raise the voice for a safe opening of schools on March 22 and to demand the following:
- Ensuring the safe opening of schools, starting from March 22, through blended learning for students of official degrees.
- Securing payment of dues for official schools and technical institutes, and insurance dues for contributions to parents' funds.
- Ensure the payment of the dues of the contractors in the official educational sector.
- Approval of the 500 billion Lebanese pounds bill dedicated to supporting private and public schools, which is in the Parliament.
- Approval of financial support of one million pounds for each learner and securing the entitlements of free schools'.
Al-Majzoub added, "We have focused on the health dimension represented by two basic requirements: securing the examinations related to the detection of corona, such as PCR and rapid tests, and vaccinating the workers in the educational sector, especially students of official certificates and their professors, as a first stage to secure safe return. Very briefly, we can say that if education collapses, then the nation collapses. Education is the basis in most countries for the establishment of a capable state. Education is a priority in countries, except unfortunately in Lebanon. Therefore, the educational family is working to ensure that this education does not collapse and that the homeland does not stumble down, for Education is a refinement of morals and a sense of the Creator.
In response to a question about vaccinations, he said, "Discussions are continuing and, God willing, soon there will be an explicit answer in this regard. I hope the educational family will remain united in its rightful demands that must be reached to bring students and students back to their schools in a safe manner."
