His Eminence Sheikh Al-Aql Sheikh Naeem Hasan received the leadership of the General Labor Union

His Eminence, Sheikh Aql of the Druze monotheistic faith (Tawhid), Sheikh Naeem Hasan received at the Community House - Beirut today, a delegation from the leadership of the General Labor Union headed by the President of the Union, Dr. Bishara Al-Asmar, and gentlemen, Hassan Fakih, Saad Eddin Hmaidi Saqr, Antoun Antoun, Hajj Ali Yassin, and Akram Arabi. The delegation presented to his Eminence a number of current general issues and topics, especially those related to labor demands related to the general living, banking sector and economic reality.
After the meeting, Al-Asmar said, "We are honored to visit His Eminence Sheikh Al-Aql in this authentic national house, and we have put him in the picture of the stressful atmosphere in which the working class and the Lebanese people are living. We agreed on the need to form a government with the required speed immediately and away from quotas and political harassment, so that it can carry out its duties during this difficult stage which Lebanon is going through."
He added, "We suffer from many problems as a working class, especially in the absence of job opportunities, arbitrary disbursement and a difficult economic situation, in addition to the increase of the exchange rate to the dollar, and the diminishing purchasing power of the Lebanese pound. As for what is being proposed about raising subsidies, we confirmed our refusal to remove the support however with the need to rationalize some of the goods, which would be in the interest of the working class and the Lebanese people. Furthermore, our constant opinion has always been that the support should remain on goods such as flour, bread, medicine, and fuel. Also, the food basket should be rationalized, and we have seen a lot of waste in it, which amounted to 230 million dollars without an account, and accountability is very important as well, and combating corruption, smuggling and other illegal actions, and these are matters that we discussed with His Eminence, the Sheikh, and he was very understanding. We thank His Eminence for the warm welcome in this great Lebanese and patriotic house, which is the home of everyone."
