“We praise God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, for his kindness to Lebanon and its people. We can hardly believe how many people would rush to the bottom of the abyss to stir up discord amid the thundering turmoil of the extremely dangerous and stormy fate of the country and its citizens. There is no power except for God Almighty".
Sheikh Hassan added: "We appreciate the kind initiatives based on wisdom and a sense of responsibility, which would be the only way to protect Lebanon in its security and economy and in its survival as a country that is fit for its people.
The persistence of disputes, overstatement, and the tendency to snap categorical interests without awarenessof the dangers of sinking of the national boat amidst stormsof failure to address economic and social conditions and addressing the scathing poverty of the people that breeds extremism, which are at the root of all causes of slides towards rupture, incompatibility and drift towards the unknown.
We call for vigilance of conscience, compassion for the country and the people, so there is no escape from enforcing the solid foundations imposed by the supreme national interest, which are well-known foundations that need common understanding, repeatedly expressed in the past years. There must be a joint call made by the conflicting poles to adhere to national unity, and to invite their people and their citizens and the people of the country and its citizens to calm down and to arbitrate the voice of reason and to emphasize the priority of coexistence in one country.
We warn against exposure to religious shrines and symbols, and to angry drift to the rejection or judgementof others. Enough playing in the circle of fire, we are all sons of this country, which we know very well, and we know that we have nothing but understanding and renewing the certainty of the necessity of coexistence, no matter how crises increase.
In the same context, his Eminence contacted the Grand Mufti of the Republic of Lebanon Sheikh Abd al-Latif Darian and the deputy head of the Supreme Islamic Shiite Council Sheikh Ali al-Khatib, and the understanding was mutual to enhance the unifying speech and to end the discord.
