2020-10-01

His Eminence Sheikh Aql of the Druze monotheistic faith (Tawhid), Sheikh Naeem Hasan, visited Bkerke this afternoon and met with the Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Bechara Al-Ra’i, and was accompanied by a delegation that included Judge Sheikh Gandhi Makarem, the advisor to his Eminence Sheikh Ghassan Al-Halabi, and member of the Christian-Islamic Dialogue Committee Mr. Abbas Al-Halabi. General spiritual and patriotic themes and issues were discussed.
After the meeting, Sheikh Al-Aql said, "Our visit today to this honorable edifice is to emphasize the national partnership, and we in the Druze community believe that this country is a final homeland for us and for all its sects, and we must do everything we can for its survival and continuity."
He added, "A hundred years have passed since the establishment of Greater Lebanon and the Lebanese still live in a diminished economic situation. Young people are immigrating, and institutions are closing, and the economy is getting stagnant, so it is not permissible for the situation to remain as static as it is."
He continued, "Proceeding with this approach will inevitably lead to collapse, so we have to be responsible, as the strength of the group is in its harmony. We call on all the basic sects of the community to communicate and compromise for the sake of our country and to respect the constitutional texts. The state is a haven for everyone, and all experiences have proven that civil peace and stability require partnership between the sects of the nation." Today, the formation of the government is required as soon as possible, and overcoming its obstacles at the disposal of those concerned. "
He concluded, "We stand with his Beatitude under the sun of hope for tomorrow for Lebanon; thank you."
In response to a question about the neutrality demanded by the Patriarch Al-Ra’i, His Eminence said, "Before us, the state has declared self-neutrality a long time ago, and this matter is on the table and there is no disagreement on the principle about it as I believe, and we, God willing, will continue our visits to the rest of the religious references in the coming days." .
